Edwards and Kelcey provides due diligence services tailored to address the technical viability and environmental impacts of water and wasterwater projects, and to support independent legal counsel and financial appraisers addressing legal and valuation concerns.

EK performs due diligence reviews of water, wastewater and biosolids treatment and disposal facilities throughout the United States.   Assignments have included detailed reviews of numerous investor owned utilities (IOUs), market analyses of desalination facilities, detailed visits and assessments of the biosolids market, and the preparation of focused business plans.

During the past seven years EK engineers have also conducted due diligence investigations of water and wastewater systems throughout Europe, North America and South America.   These assignments have included an analysis of over 150 water and/or wastewater treatment facilities in The Netherlands, England , Germany , Austria , and Mexico.  EK completed engineering evaluations for the facilities, developed capital improvement budgets for the life of the lease, determined the remaining useful life of the asset, and assisted with the determination of replacement costs for the assets. The information provided by EK was utilized in determining the financial and legal terms of the cross border lease.  As a result of these due diligence investigations, in excess of $10 billion of assets have been transferred as part of cross border lease agreements or service contracts between U.S. investors and water utility operators in Europe.
